The apartment museum of the celebrated Russian landscape painter Arkhip Ivanovich Kuinji (1841-1910) opened in 1993. It is in this house that he spent the last years of his life (1897-1910).
The studio and a number of other rooms, including the study, dining-room and drawing-room, have been restored and open to visitors. The exhibition provides a lively account of Kuinji's life and work and his activities as the head of the Academy's landscape-painting studio and a member of the Society of Russian Artists. Works by Kuinji and his pupils and followers are to be seen, as well as the artist's personal belongings.
